Is it possible to use single phase generator instead of three phase generator in wind turbine?If not then why?

Yes it is possible. I agree with RAW. The smaller ones use single phase but the larger commercial ones use a three phase generator because they have better efficiencies and relatively low capital costs for installation and maintenance.
