WHY wont these pics show on my iPod?

I sent some pics from online to my email address where i then SAVED them to my iPod. The ipod showed that it was synchronizing but when i turned on my ipod and went to photos--nothing! why wont they come up on my iPod? And what can i do to get these pics to show on my ipod?
