Just keep texting him and flirting and stuff. Believe me, eventually even we notice. To give you any sort of indication... it took me almost a year to realize that girl I'd been talking to for so long actually more than just liked me. As far as getting him to text you first... it just takes time. Keep texting him till it feels natural for him to respond and talk in that matter. For me it just seemed awkward to try to start a conversation, so I didn't for the longest time.
