Can I register my puppy/dog with the AKC?

Im wondering if I can register my puppy/dog with the akc? Hes registered with the UNITED registry on the paper it has like all of its family and if I can register with the akc how do i do that? my puppy/dog is a pure breed Yorkshire Terrier and he does have every description the akc says a yorkie should have PLEASE HELP
