Cat Eye Problem already been to the vet?

My cat has already been to vet several times, The vet said she has feline . Now she has to see an ophthalmologist in Columbus. Her right eye is bulging and her third eyelid is showing and she cannot close her eye all the way. The vet said that it is not life threatening but there is still 2 weeks before her appointment. She is acting fine, she is eating and playing but it just looks so bad. We are putting ointment on her eye that the vet gave us and also eye drops, like the vet said to do. She doesn't rub her eye at all until we put the ointment in. She also has the film over her eye, the vet said it was her eye drying out and that's when he said to use the eye drops as well. Should we try to get her in sooner or just keep doing what the vet said to do until we can get her in, I heard that when a cat is sick she will hide and not come out but she comes out all the time. Just wanted to get some opinions . Thank you
