Hard stool , metamucil !?

okay so this is my third time asking this question, i had surgery a week ago I've had one bowel movement which was sunday and it was very painful, it took a lot of time to get it out and it was very big. I took stool softeners and ive drunken water and I just took some metamucil, should I take more stool softeners what should I do about this? I know what caused it, it was the pain meds. my life has been miserable since Sunday, I hate this. any suggestions that really work?
