I'm looking for a pet and cant decide?

I'm looking to get a pet to grace my room. Nothing too large, something in a cage or aquarium. I have room for a very large aquarium or cage so I've been going back and forth on things such as scorpions, snakes, or maybe a bird. My main worry is I do have a cat that stays in my room. I was also aiming at something pretty low maintence but I've heard snakes, lizards and insects/arachnids -besides initial setup- take alot of maintence work in cleaning. I had a pet lovebird growing up and she was pretty simple to take care of and lived a really long time. any suggestions or ideas that might help me decide what to go with?
